Jewellery Care

Natural stones and handcrafted pieces require careful handling. The following tips will help your SELUNA pieces last longer.

Natural Crystals and Stones

1. Natural stones vary in hardness and properties: some fade in sunlight, and some should not touch water or salt. Store and wear them separately to avoid knocks and scratches.

2. Apply makeup, perfume and skincare before putting jewellery on; avoid jewellery when spraying perfume.

3. Remove jewellery when bathing, swimming, doing housework or exercising, and avoid contact with detergents, seawater, hot springs and chemicals.

4. Natural inclusions, veining, colour variation and internal fissures are normal; each piece is one of a kind.

Organic Materials (amber, beeswax, pearl, agarwood, sandalwood, etc.)

1. These are soft and sensitive to dryness, moisture and heat. Keep them away from direct sunlight, desiccants and chemicals.

2. Pearls are especially sensitive to acids, alkalis and perspiration; wipe gently with a soft cloth after wear.

3. When not worn for long periods, store in a sealed bag to prevent cracking or discolouration.

Sterling Silver

925 sterling silver contains 92.5% silver. As 100% pure silver is too soft and oxidises easily, 7.5% other metals are added for strength and durability. Sterling silver naturally darkens as it reacts with sulphur in the air, forming silver sulphide on the surface (commonly called oxidation) — this is normal and can be cleaned with silver dip or a polishing cloth. However, pieces set with stones or pearls should not be soaked in silver dip, to avoid damaging the stones.

Metal Accessories

Gold-coloured jewellery on the market may be made of different materials. Apart from solid gold, no gold-coloured jewellery can guarantee absolute colour retention; usage habits also affect it. If you are sensitive to certain metals, we suggest wearing a piece briefly first before deciding to wear it for extended periods.

Allergic reactions to different materials vary from person to person; if necessary, you may identify allergens through a medical institution.

General Care Tips

1. Store each piece separately, away from other jewellery or hard objects, to avoid scratching the surface.

2. Avoid prolonged contact with perspiration, which can corrode the surface.

3. Avoid contact with cosmetics, perfume and acidic or alkaline substances.

4. Remove jewellery when bathing, washing or swimming, and avoid contact with water or acidic/alkaline substances.

5. Rotating pieces extends their life.

6. When not worn for long periods, clean the surface, keep dry and store sealed.
